Karl Schimanski Baffin Island Climbing
Rock climbing in the realm of the gods - Baffin Island lies in the Canadian Arctic Archipelago. Midnight sun, the Aurora Borealis, steep fiords, drifting pack ice, glaciers, icebergs, polar bears, caribou, it’s all there.
From a climbing perspective, Baffin Island is best known for its big wall climbing, consisting of ancient granite faces. The wild and adventurous come to climb in a very desolate setting with virtually unlimited potential for exploratory climbing and first ascents.
Having freed world famous routes like Free Rider on El Capitan, and also making a one day free ascent of the regular NWF on Half Dome, Karl Schimanski is one of NZ's best trad climbers - He is with us to share his wild and rugged artic adventure - or as Karl puts it “Insanity & adventure in the Arctic Circle”.
