AGM

It has come time again for our annual section AGM on the 9th of November at the Horse and Trap in Mt Eden. It is a month later than usual this year due to the rescheduling of the Banff Mountain Film Festival. I would like to invite all section members to attend and have the chance to learn how we have done this year and where we stand going forward. This is also an opportunity to ask questions and give feedback on how we could improve as a section. Every year we strive to offer our members more than we did the year before and next year will be no different. Our committee can only offer the section as much as is willingly given by volunteers that donate their time and energy. If you feel that you have something to give back and wish to volunteer please do not hesitate to reach out. It is refreshing to have new faces and a new perspective within the committee and I look forward to hearing from you. If you feel you do not have the time for joining the committee but would like to still be involved, we are always welcoming of people running both winter and summer trips. If this is something you are interested in please contact trips@aucklandclimber.org.nz

Regards

Brendan Wallace, Auckland Section Chair

Speaker

Guess what, we've just had it confirmed that Mark Jones will be speaking tomorrow night. Mark is an Adventurer and Senior Lecturer and Outdoor Education Major Coordinator at AUT. Some of his adventures have included the first adventurers to kayak 800km along the coast of Antarctica to cross the polar circle. They also kayaked 500km through South America’s notoriously blustery Beagle Channel and into the Chilean fijords. They also attempted a new route through the Cordillera Darwin mountain range into Argentina. Recently he undertook a solo 200km off track trek between the Urawera and Whirinaki ranges where he lived off the land.

So come along, grab a drink and something to eat and enjoy.
