Tongariro National Park is an amazing place to explore whether skiing, hiking or climbing but unfortunately at any time a day in the mountains does not always go to plan and it must also be treated with the respect of a major alpine mountain range.
The Ruapehu Alpine Rescue Organisation is a volunteer based group responsible for carrying out alpine search and rescue work in and around the Tongariro National Park. This dedicated team range from outdoor instructors to ski patrollers to active recreationalists who all have one thing in mind – helping others in need.
They will be with us to discuss who they are, what they do and cover a few safety and first aid essentials to ensure we don’t need to make use of their services when enjoying the outdoors this winter.
Be there – Monday 11th May, 7.30pm – The Dominion Bar
